The name "Luxembourg" is attached to more than one geographical entity. Perhaps the best known is the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, a sovereign state within the European Union, with Luxembourg City as its capital. Luxembourg is also the name of a province of Belgium. Luxembourg is in fact the largest province of Belgium and is 72% larger than its neighbouring cousin, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg. The province forms part of Wallonia, the French-speaking part of Belgium.

The capital of Luxembourg -- the Belgian province, not the Grand Duchy -- is Arlon and its history dates back to Roman times. It is a small city (about 28,000 inhabitants) as you can imagine from the accompanying photograph.
