What is the deepest lake in the world?
The treasure of Lake Baikal is safely kept in the heart of the Eurasian continent. And like a genuine treasure, the lake is surrounded by guards in the form of mountains and hills.
As we know, the total area of this crescent-shaped lake is about 12 250 sq mi - that is equal to the land area of Belgium. Its maximum depth is 5,387 ft.
Besides being the deepest one, Lake Baikal also appears to be the most ancient. The lake's age is estimated by scientists at 25-35 million years.

The statistics on "Lake Biakal" are staggering. Also, the fact that it is a freshwater lake. The fact that "Lake Biakal" has it's own "Security" is quite interesting as well.

Hi Jay go here, Its width is over 2 miles and its length is over 3 miles, whoever told you that Cater lake was the deepest was wrong

earlepg, some call it an ocean in the making as the plates are still moving away from each other. It's pristine, but as such, humans can't wait to exploit it.

It seems that Russia is having problems with Lake Baikal shrinking because lake water is being used for power and possibly because of the effects of global warming. Wells are also going dry in the surrounding area.

I lived in Nevada. Taking scenic dinner cruises across Lake Tahoe, tour guides mention several times that Lake Tahoe. There are sunken boats and “treasures”, that have never been found.

It’s over a mile deep and as large as Belgium. How is this not considered an inland sea? Because it’s fresh water?
