Currently, the Boeing CH-47 Chinook is still the largest helicopter in use by the U.S. Army. It is a tandem rotor, twin engine, heavy-lift helicopter designed to transport artillery, troops, ammunition, fuel and supplies within military theaters of operation.

The legacy of the Chinook began in 1958 and continues today with the CH-47F and MH-47G configurations. According to Boeing, since the introduction of the CH-47, 1,179 aircraft have been built. The new CH-47F is powered by two Honeywell T55-GA-714A turboshaft engines. It is built and assembled at Boeing's production facility in Ridley Park, Pennsylvania. According to Boeing, 19 countries around the world are operating Chinook helicopters.

Recently a new CH-53K King Stallion helicopter was developed to meet requirements of the US Marine Corps. It is a further development of the CH-53E Super Stallion. Since 1974 the Super Stallion was the largest and most powerful helicopter outside Russia. It is being replaced by the latest King Stallion, which is even larger and more powerful. The CH-53K has similar airframe as its predecessor, but has notably improved performance. This heavy helicopter was first publicly revealed in 2014. didn't realize that the army was using the chinook...I just assumed that it was just the marines and our army and air force where using the black hawks

Charles Borg, The Marine Corps uses the CH-53E Super Stallion. The question was what is the largest helicopter the US Army uses. The correct answer, which has been the correct answer for more years than I can remember is the CH-47 Chinook. Several years ago, while I was still on active duty, I was doing correspondence courses. One was on helicopters. At that time, I had every model the Army used memorized, which included the CH-54 Sky Crane, which the Army retired years ago. i don't think civilian construction companies use them anymore, either. I served 20 years, 5 months, and 12 days on active duty. I did manage to learn a couple of things during that time.
