What is the largest landfill in the world?

The Great Pacific Garbage Patch is a swirling mass of plastic waste caused by 80 percent land run off and 20 percent ship dumping.This trash gets trapped between two main gyres that act as a whirlpool and collect this trash. In some areas the plastics are estimated to be 90 feet thick.

If you wanted to make a point about pollution accumulation you could do it in the answer explanation. When you use the term landfill, the answer has to be a landfill. All questions like this should be tossed. This goes in the op ed section of a paper or website.

This is incorrect. It specifically ask landfill. Not garbage dump. A landfill is specified in its name "landfill." Therefore the answer should be the bordo poniente landfill in Mexico.

The answer given for this question is GARBAGE!!! How can a landfill be in the middle of an OCEAN??? And, no specifications on whether the landfill is the largest by total acreage or yearly tonnage of municipal garbage. This question should NEVER have made it past the proofreaders, if you have any!!!
