What is the medical term for having your gall bladder removed?
It's quite easy to do a small investigation of the structure of the word "Cholecystectomy". As well as most medical terms this one is also of Greek origin. If the word were written in English, it would turn into the phrase "gallbladder removal". Actually, the operation is the main one among current treatments for chronic cholecystitis. Besides, the procedure is said to be a safe way of gallbladder cancer prevention.

I had one done and still didn't really remember the answer. I got it by eliminating the ones I knew were wrong.

Had to use process of elimination for this one. Appendectormy is appendix removal; Splenectomy is spleen removal; and Lobotomy is cuttying into the brain's frontal lobe. Only one option left then! :-)

My husband and I have both had this procedure. While he was having it done they discovered an Aortal Abdominal Aneurysm, He will have major surgery on that in 2-3 weeks.

I had mine out while I was studying medical terminology. That came in handy when the doctor asked what procedure I was having done. :)

Some people actually thought Lobotomy was the answer.
