What is the name of the character Liam Neeson played in the movie, Schindler's List?
German business man, spy & member of the Nazi Party. Oskar Schindler became an unlikely hero when he saved 1,200 of Jews during the Holocaust by employing them in the enamelware & ammunition factories which were located in occupied in Poland & the Protectorate of Bohemia. At first Schindler was only in the money making potential of the business. Later he began shielding his workers without regard for the cost. He had to give Nazi officials large bribes & gifts to keep his workers safe.
By the people whose lives he had saved during the war, he was named Righteous Among the Nations by the Israeli govt. in 1963. After his death in 1974 he was buried in Jerusalem on Mount Zion.

OOPSI pressed enter too soon. I live at a rest home in Wellington and one of the ladies here is the daughter of a Polish man who was also at Auschwitz as a child with his family. I am unsure how many of his family survived, but he and a brother or sister, I think came here as child refugees.

I have be to Kraków twice, and to Auschwitz twice! They was lot of Jews, but lots of Poles, Romania’s And many other nationalities. Thank god my grandparents left Poland before all of this went on.

Great movie Schindler's List. This was based on the real man Oskar Schindler who put his own life in the line to save so many people who happen to be Jews. He was a hero to do many who owed their lives because of the brave thing he did. No wonder the Israeli government considered him a Righteous person.
