What is the name of the famous novel also known as the Modern Prometheus?

The Modern Prometheus is a novel penned by Mary Shelley in 1818 and is better known as Frankenstein. She was 18 years of age and her original work was published anonymously because in those years people scoffed at the writings of women. Her name first appeared as the author of Frankenstein when the second edition of the book was published in Paris in 1821.

Frankenstein was the story created by Mary Shelley in a competition between herself, her future husband Percy B. Shelley, a romantic poet and philosopher, and the famous poet, Lord Byron, to see who could write the best horror story.

Victor Frankenstein is the scientist who creates a creature which he assembles from body parts and weird chemicals. The monster is eight feet tall, unbelievably strong with a somewhat imbecilic mind. The book caused an outcry in religious communities in the US and was banned in South African for being "objectionable and obscene."
