What is the national sport of England?

Cricket is the national sport of the England. Today there are 18 professional county clubs in the U.K. with all of them being named after historic counties.

England's national sport is cricket although to many people football (soccer) is seen as our national sport. Football is our most popular sport. Some of England's football teams are world famous, the most famous being Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool.

Lord's is the biggest cricket stadium in England. Commonly known as the home of cricket, this iconic ground has captured the first spot since many decades in the cricket league. The stadium is named after Lord.

Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a 22-yard (20-metre) pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The game proceeds when a player on the fielding team, called the bowler, "bowls" (propels) the ball from one end of the pitch towards the wicket at the other end. The batting side's players score runs by striking the bowled ball with a bat and running between the wickets, while the bowling side tries to prevent this by keeping the ball within the field and getting it to either wicket, and dismiss each batter (so they are "out").

It might be the national game in the UK but at the moment they probably want to disown the current lot playing in Australia. As an Aussie and for the sake of cricket I hope they improve quickly and provide some stiffer opposition. Cricket in England suffers from too many limited over matches where batsmen forget about technique chasing quick runs and that carries over into the longer form of the game. I say scrap the pyjama game but of course that is never going to happen because money always rules.

Well, their Football is what we call Soccer. Here in the States, what we play is known internationally as 'American' Football.
