What is the second oldest Catholic Cathedral in the Americas?
The Cathedral of San Juan Bautista is the Roman Catholic cathedral of the Archdiocese of San Juan de Puerto Rico. The cathedral is one of the oldest buildings in San Juan, located in Old San Juan, and is the second oldest cathedral in the Americas.
Even though the Cathedral of Santa María la Menor in Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic, is an older church building, the Cathedral of San Juan Bautista was the first cathedral church on the Western Hemisphere as San Juan, then known as the city of Puerto Rico, was the first diocese of the New World with bishop Don Alonso Manso in 1511.

Kevin Coleman, I hate to correct, so hesitate to so now, but when I read the article itself, it appeared to me that the author put the two cathedrals in the correct order. I got the same result when I went offline to check.

Tenerife at least narrowed the possible options down to three. Spent 5 days there in 1980 at a law conference. Was surprised to see a snow capped mountain from my hotel balcony when I was in shorts and a polo shirt and the hotel pool was surrounded by young ladies in bikinis...just the bottoms. Great conference.

Further more, there is no cathedral in San German, Puerto Rico. The oldest cathedral in the Américas is in San Juan; the oldest catedral "building" is in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
