'Bingo' is a game of chance in which each player checks off numbers on a card as the numbers 1 to 90 are drawn randomly by a 'bingo caller'. The winner is the first person to mark off all their numbers. The game is often played at group events, clubs, special 'Bingo' halls, and holiday parks. Over time, nicknames have developed for certain numbers, such as "two little ducks" for the number 22. This is because the shape of the number 2 resembles a duck's neck. Similarly, the number 2 may be called "one little duck".

The nicknames, or 'bingo lingo', began in the United Kingdom several decades ago after it became popular at carnivals and fairs in the 1920s. In 2003, a 'Professor of Popular Culture' devised some more modern nicknames in an attempt to bring fresh interest to 'Bingo'.

Not all numbers containing the digit '2' have nicknames relating to ducks. A lot of 'bingo calls' rhyme, for instance, "pick and mix" for 26, "rise and shine" for 29, "tickety-boo" for 62, and "straight on through" for 82.

Other notable 'bingo calls' include, "legs eleven" (11), "unlucky for some" (13), "dancing queen" (17), and 'Two fat ladies' (88).
