What is this dental instrument used for?
This surgical instrument is used to luxate and remove teeth and roots that cannot be engaged by the beaks of forceps, or to loosen teeth and roots before forceps application.
The dental elevator is also used to loosen the tooth within the bone. This instrument is placed firmly on either side of the tooth between the tooth and gums. It is rocked slowly and forcefully in order to loosen the tooth. The use of the dental elevator makes it easier to complete the tooth extraction with the forceps.

I do not look at the instruments or ask the dentist what he is going to use it for!!! I close my eyes and pray for the appointment to be over ASAP!!
