In the United States
National Pearl Harbor Remembrance Day is observed annually in the US. It is observed on the 7th of December in order to remember and honor the victims who were killed on the 7th of December, 1941.
It is also referred to as Pearl Harbor Day. There is a tradition that the Flag of the United States must fly at half-staff until sunset.

My father was there, on board the USS Detroit, and was a Pearl Harbor Survivot....He is my hero.

It read a news article about a baby who was abandoned in Hawaii because the mother got scared from the bombing. The baby was later given up for adoption and name Pearl. Her mother never returned to the hospital to claim her as her daughter. She just ran and I wonder if she was killed in the chaos

My father would have jumped out of his grave if I missed this one as he served in the pacific with the 77th Infantry Divison and that Davison is credited with 15 Beach Landings and # 1 was the liberation of Guam on the East end and the road the men of the 77th Infantry Divison built in 1944 is still in use to this day ...

My son was born on December 7th. Poor child I made him memorize evey detail of his infamous birthday. And quizzed him every year. He's 41 now and says he remembers my quizzing him as a little boy. He joined the Air Force after high school. Hummm

My grandfather was a Navy vet too, having fought in Vietnam, WWII and Pearl Harbor. He lived to 88yrs, passing away this year just a week before his 89th bday. I will always miss him but will always remember his bravery and honor; both as a Navy man, and as a respected family man. Rest peacefully, grandaddy.
