What suspension bridge was opened on the 14th of November 1938?
It is a National Historic Site of Canada!
The great suspension bridge is officially known as the First Narrows Bridge. The common name of the bridge refers to a pair of mountain peaks (The Lions) located north of Vancouver. A pair of cast concrete lions were placed on either side of the south approach to the bridge in 1939. The total length of the bridge is about 5,900 ft!
The bridge was designated a National Historic Site of Canada in 2005.

My hometown. Grandparents got stuck between cars, on the Granville St. bridge, of the Royal motorcade with George VI and Queen Elisabeth returning from opening the Narrows bridge.

I guess that's right! I was thinking of the Golden Gate Bridge because it was also opend up in the mid to late 30's but it was opened more than a year earlier. Of course, the Mackinac Bridge that spands across the Macinac Straits between the 2 penincelas of Michigan, happens to be longer higher and is ever so much more impressive than the Golden Gate bridge, the Lions Gate Bridge, Millennium Foot Bridge and the George Washington Bridge together. It is over 5 miles long, 500 feet from it's highest point to the fresh water below and if you can end your life, jumping off the Golden Gate Bridge, You certainly will lose your life if you were to jump off of the Mackinac Bridge! Now, that's what I call a suspention bridge.
