A Reedbuck is a reddish brown African antelope. There are three recognised species that fall under the name of reedbuck. The southern reedbuck is typically found, as its name suggests, in southern Africa. Pieter Boddaert, a Dutch physician and naturalist, was the first person to describe the animal in 1785.

The second species is the bohor reedbuck, first described by German zoologist and botanist Peter Simon Pallas in 1767. They are found in many African countries, although more live in eastern and central Africa than in western Africa.

The third species is the mountain reedbuck, which predominantly lives in sub-Saharan Africa. Unlike the southern and bohor reedbuck, the mountain reedbuck is endangered due to hunting and changes to its habitat.

All three species of reedbuck have similar physical features, although differ slightly in size with the southern reedbuck being the largest. They typically live on a diet of reeds and grass.
