WRONG. Rhode Island renamed it self years ago. It is now just "Rhode Island". the "Commonwealth of Massachusetts" has the longest name.

teacherchicky, No longer true. In November 2020, Rhode Island voted to drop the longest part of its name. Now it's The Commonwealth of Massachusetts (which beats The Commonwealth of Pennsylvania by a single digit). Admin needs to change the official answer to reflect the change.

Since this question was last used, I believe RI has been replaced by Massachusetts…at least according to the Boston Globe. They wouldn’t engage in fake news! Would they?

The key was the word official even being in the question. That said it had to be something other than longest COMMON name. I then took a guess that for irony sake it cud be the smallest state👍😜

I thought Virginia should have been one of the choices.
