Although the original book by Roald Dahl ('Charlie and the Chocolate Factory') contains lyrics adapted for other songs in the film, the lyrics to 'The Candy Man' do not appear in the book. The film's soundtrack version of the song was sung by Aubrey Woods. He is the guy who plays Bill the candy store owner in the film.

As a non American I still find it annoying that although he sang in some of the country's finest establishments he was not allowed to in through the main entrance of some and had to use the trade entrance because of his colour.

Sammy Davis Jr was also an excellent tap dancer as well as Gregory Hines who I saw in person. He was AMAZING! One of my favorite movies was "White Nights" with Mikael Baryshnikov, he's also INCREDIBLE too.😊👍❤
