Zion National Park is located in the Southwestern area of the United States, near Springdale, Utah. This became Utah's First National Park in November 1919 and is a place that still allows people to follow the paths where ancient native people and pioneers walked. People can also gaze up at massive sandstone cliffs that are cream, pink, and red in color. These cliffs truly soar up into a great big open sky.

Zion National Park also has a long and rich cultural heritage. Many different groups, with their own unique traditions, called Zion home. They lived their lives by working the land. For over 10,000 years, humans lived in and around Zion. Now there is no written record to recount the rich cultures and daily lives of people. Archaeologists and anthropologists illuminate the past by reading clues that have been left behind.
