"In Search of the Castaways" is a novel by the French writer Jules Verne, published in 1867–1868. The original edition, published by Hetzel, contains a number of illustrations by Édouard Riou.
The book tells the story of the quest for Captain Grant of the Britannia. After finding a bottle the captain had cast into the ocean after the Britannia is shipwrecked, Lord and Lady Glenarvan of Scotland contact Mary and Robert, the young daughter and son of Captain Grant, through an announcement in a newspaper. The government refuses to launch a rescue expedition, but Lord and Lady Glenarvan, moved by the children's condition, decide to do it by themselves.

I haven't read the book so I had to resort to elimination. First was Huckleberry & Becky, friends of Tom Sawyer (Mark Twain). Then Tom & Polly (also Mark Twain), Tom Sawyer and his Aunt Polly. Last was Kai & Gerda, who had to be the friends from Hans Christian Anderson's fairy tale, The Snow Queen. That left the siblings Mary & Robert aa the children of Capt. Grant.

One of the favorite books from my childhood.
I wonder why the title in English is "In Search of the Castaways". The original title in French is “ Les Enfants du capitaine Grant”, meaning “The children of Captain Grant”.
