When are you able to see a solar eclipse from the earth?

The correct answer is you can see a Solar Eclipse during New Moon. New moon occurs when the moon is between the earth and the sun. During New Moon, the opposite side of the moon from the earth is lit by the sun and the moon appears dark from the earth. For a solar eclipse to occur, the moon must be between the earth and the sun and block the sun out from reaching the earth.

Alvin Littlefield, No. the only way you get a solar eclipse when the Sun is occluded by the Moon. that can only happen when the Earth-Moon-Sun is in alignment and can not happen in the case of a full moon when you have Moon-Earth-Sun in alignment. The explanation is correct.
