When did Hindi become the official language of India?
It happened on the 26th of January
Today, millions of Indian people consider Hindi their native language. The interesting thing is that there are only 10 million native Hindi speakers, while some people speak so-called related languages or dialects.
Probably, that's why Hindi is not considered the national language of the country. Moreover, there are 22 official languages recognized in the Constitution of India. Complicated, isn't it?
What do you think about it? Should a country have only one official language? Please, share your opinion and experience in the comments below!
