When did Wile E. Coyote first meet the Roadrunner on screen?

Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series of cartoons are among the most popular TV-shows of all time. Of course, everyone remembers two characters always competing in speed and alacrity: Wile E. Coyote and The Road Runner. This famous couple first appeared on the screens on the 17th of September, 1949. Since that date Coyote has been attempting to catch the fast-running bird, most of the time unsuccessfully. Coyote's complex contraptions and elaborate plans of catching the bird are considered funny, hilarious and very entertaining. That's the watchers' opinion... but the character himself is probably getting tired from time to time. Anyway, it doesn't prevent him from trying to catch his famous prey even today, so many years after their first performance on TV!
