Where did Moses receive the 10 commandments?
Mount Sinai is the mountain where Moses received the Ten Commandments from God. According to biblical stories and scholars, Moses departed to the mountain and stayed there for 40 days and nights in order to receive the Ten Commandments. He had to do it twice because he broke the first set of stone tablets after returning from the mountain for the first time.

To Ben Totuous: religion is not a crutch for those who cannot accept their own mortality. Biblical Judaism believed that when you died, that was the end of your life. The best for which you can hope is for your "name" to live on through your [male] children. The reason the BODILY resurrection of Jesus is so important is that without the body, there is no life. Christian resurrection is no crutch. As the Apostle Paul wrote regarding Jesus' resurrection, it is a "stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles." So, consider it foolishness, if you must; you will be the one who has left himself out upon your death. I don't "need" the resurrection, but I am sure glad it is there! BTW: the resurrection of Jesus is the seal of proof on the power and truth of God's loving forgiveness. The God of the Bible is not the vindictive god of your confused idea of what religion is.

This description makes it sound like Moses just tripped and dropped the first set of tablets...lol. He destroyed them because his followers started worshipping the golden calf (a false idol) in his 40-day absense.

My opinion is each to his own. I am a non-believer but I am entitled to my opinion the same as anyone else. Just please don't try to convert me. My sister has tried and failed.

Any time there is a question about religion or politics some numb skull has to give some lame-brain opinions about "God's existence", or how great or poor of a President so and so is. GET A LIFE PEOPLE-this is a Daily Quiz web site- not the op.ed. page .

OMG! All you had to do was pick an answer! No one cares if you do or don't believe what the Bible says. Save it for a Bible study group setting.

The Old Testament also identifies the mountain where the covenant was given as Mount Horeb.

It never ceases to amaze me how much negative conversation arrives after any reference is made to the Bible. But, in my humble opinion, I have noticed that none of those "nay-sayers" of the Bible actually know anything about it, and seem to be parroting what they've heard from others of their same opinion, rather than actually studying the Book itself. Can those of you who automatically pipe up your anti-biblical, anti-religion rhetoric imagine what kinds of grades you would have received in high school English and Literature classes, had you used this approach for your book reports? Additionally, I have noticed that many great minds, scientists, and scholars, have studied the Bible from cover to cover and have come to the conclusion that it is all true and verifiable, yet you insist on relying upon your own uninformed opinion, simply because you want to be correct in your own mind and opinion, rather than in fact and proof. Therefore, you have absolutely no rock to stand upon, and are drowning in your own disbelief. Please - I have clung to the following quote for decades now, and I truly believe it has saved me from being foolishly and "assured-of-myself" publicly ignorant, spouting meaningless chatter to anyone who would listen: "Independent investigation of the truth." Study first - then enter into the conversation.
