Where did the Oregon Trail cross the Rocky Mountains?

South Pass was discovered in 1812 as a natural crossing point in The Rocky Mountains. South Pass is located in southern part of Fremont County, Wyoming between the Wind River Range to the north and the Oregon Buttes and Great Divide Basin to the south. Interestingly Lewis and Clark were not told about the pass by their native American guides who certainly knew about the pass.
