Baffin Island is in the Canadian territory of Nunavut. It is the largest island in Canada and the fifth largest island in the world. Its total area is about 507 square kilometers (195 square miles), and 11 thousand people live there. The island is named after a famous English explorer and Navigator, William Baffin.

There are a lot of amazing freshwater rivers and lakes on the island, but they are frozen for most of the year.
