Blowing Rocks Preserve is located in Hobe Sound on narrow Jupiter Island, a barrier island between the Indian River Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean. Blowing Rocks is owned by the Nature Conservancy. It contains the largest outcropping of Anastasia limestone on Florida’s east coast and gets its name from water spurting out of holes in the rock, at times spouting 50 feet into the air. These conditions are most common in winter at high tide.
