Mount Kilimanjaro with is a dormant ("sleeping") volcano in Tanzania. It rises approximately 4,877 metres (16,001 ft) from its base to 5,895 metres (19,341 ft) above sea level. This mountain is the main climbing destination of the Kilimanjaro National Park. Kilimanjaro is the highest free-standing mount on the planet and the highest mountain on the continent. It has three volcanic cones, one of which, Kibo, is able to erupt again. Anyway, the most recent volcanic activity was observed here two centuries ago.

Approximately 25 thousand climbers come here every year to try to reach the peak of the mountain, but it appears to be rather difficult even for the experienced climbers. Many of them turn back because of the altitude-related issues. Still, two-thirds of the attempts are successful.
