Where is this large sandstone rock formation located?

Uluru, also known as Ayers Rock and officially gazetted as Uluru / Ayers Rock is a large sandstone rock formation in the southern part of the Northern Territory in central Australia. It lies 335 km (208 mi) south-west of the nearest large town, Alice Springs.

Uluru is one of Australia's most recognisable natural landmarks. The sandstone formation stands 348 m (1,142 ft) high, rising 863 m (2,831 ft) above sea level with most of its bulk lying underground, and has a total circumference of 9.4 km (5.8 mi). Both Uluru and the nearby Kata Tjuta formation have great cultural significance for the Aṉangu people, the traditional inhabitants of the area, who lead walking tours to inform visitors about the local flora and fauna, bush food and the Aboriginal dreamtime stories of the area.

Photograph is of Wave Rock near Hyden in Western Australia, not Wave Rock near Uluru.

Agree that this photo is not of Uluru which is a completely different formation. Will the ratifiers please check the questions more thoroughly before posting. There are too many wrong questions getting through and this spoils the fun of Quiz Club.

Anyone clicked the above 'report' button yet to make an official complaint about this issue - rather than just writing comments that the photo on the question, is not what Carol has provided in the explanation? Yes - Uluru ( "Ayers Rock" ) in the explanation AND Wave Rock ( the photo )are both in OZ..., but the photo is not Uluru so yet another be rubbish Question by CW....

Christopher J Voce, What type of trees are they that you knew they were Australian? Maybe I reviewed this question. I wanted to say that it was in the United States of America, but I thought I read it was in Australia, The players have indicated that it is a different area than described; otherwise, I would not know. Even though the explanation of The Rock in the picture is incorrect, technically the rock shown is located in Australia so the answer of Australia is correct for the picture shown. She just got lucky this time.

Uhuru is one of the most amazing sights in the world. It as if God said, "I have this huge rock and here is a good place to put it." There is nothing around it for many miles. Magnificent!
