The New York International Airport (the official name) was widely known as Idlewild Airport, but after Kennedy's assassination it was renamed in memory of the president. Nowadays people from around the world know JFK International Airport as one of the most popular in America.

The airport was opened in 1948 in the Queens borough of the NYC. Nowadays it handles about 27.7 million passengers a year, which makes it one of the busiest airport not only in the airport system of the city, but of the whole country. It covers 4,930 acres and has more than 30 miles of roadway.
