Where was the world's first steel-framed skyscraper constructed?

The Home Insurance Building was located in Chicago. It was constructed in 1885 as the first skyscraper in the world built not only by means of masonry, but with the help of metal. Such a technology was a true novelty, providing economical and efficient design. With the height of 138 feet (42 meters) it was the tallest building in the world from 1884 to 1889. The Home Insurance Building was destroyed in 1931 in order to build the Field Building.

Well Back when they were still riding Horses and Carridges were the State of the art Transportation, besides Locomotives, LOL I would say that was an amazing Feat! Remember this was in 1885, :D :O

It was the tallest building in the world at that time and the first skyscraper ever. Not a barrel scraper.

In the 1880s, one criteria used to identify a building was if it had from 10-20 floors. It wasn't until much later that height in feet indicated a skyscraper (I can't remember the amount).
