Where would you find the Ponte de Sospiri?

The Bridge of Sighs is a bridge located in Venice, northern Italy. The enclosed bridge is made of white limestone and has windows with stone bars. It passes over the Rio di Palazzo and connects the New Prison (Prigioni Nuove) to the interrogation rooms in the Doge's Palace. It was designed by Antonio Contino (whose uncle Antonio da Ponte had designed the Rialto Bridge) and was built in 1600.

In Venitian society, a person could drop a dime on someone who thought had wronged them and they would be picked up soon after. The only way for friends and relatives to see them would be thru the two small windows. It could the last chance to see the convicted person. The bridge is beautiful but not so much after knowing what lay in store individual The prison rooms were located in the upper floors of Doge Palace. The palace held seven rooms reserved for upper status individuals. Each of the rooms were small with little sunlight, proper food and ventilation. Giacomo Casanova was one of the guests held in the prison. During his life he had built up an extensive police record and created many enemies due to his roguish nature. he was held at the prison for nearly 6 months until his escape.

I saw this bridge.A lot of sighing happened when convicted people were led to their execution.
