Which ant forms the largest colony?
A research published in Insectes Sociaux in 2009 revealed the fact that three great ant colonies in the USA, Japan and the Mediterranean form one mega-colony and are not separate ones. These Argentine ants are stretched 3.700 miles in Europe on the Mediterranean coast, 560 miles on the Californian coast. The third part of a colony dwells on the west coast of Japan. The colony was probably maintained by humans' travelling between different parts of the world.
