Michael Kelland John Hutchence (1/22/1960-11/22/1997 Sydney, New South Wales, Australia) was an Australian musician, singer-songwriter and actor. Hutchence co-founded the rock band INXS, which sold over 75 million records worldwide and was inducted into the ARIA, Australian Recording Industry Association, Hall of Fame in 2001. He was the lead singer and lyricist of INXS from 1977 until his death.

Hutchence was not only a vocalist but he also played guitar. His genres included rock, alternative rock and new wave. His associated acts included INXS and Max Q.

Hutchence was a member of the short-lived pop rock group Max Q. He also recorded some solo material and acted in featured films, including "Dogs in Space" (1986), "Frankenstein Unbound" (1990), and "Limp" (1999).

In the mid-1990s, Hutchence was in a relationship with English television presenter Paula Yates (4-24-1959-9/17/2000 Notting Hill, London) the couple had a daughter, Heavenly Hiraani Tiger Lily.

On the morning of 11/22/1997, Hutchence was found dead in his hotel room in Sydney. His death was reported by the New South Wales Coroner to be the result of suicide by hanging.

An analysis report of Hutchence's blood, which was later released, indicated the presence of alcohol, cocaine, Prozac (antidepressant) and prescription drugs.

Paula Yates died of a heroin overdose in 2000.
