Which city do Muslims always face toward when praying five times a day?
Mecca is the Islamic holy city and thus Muslims face this city while they pray. In mosques, a qibla wall denotes the direction of Mecca and Muslims align themselves toward this wall for prayer. If praying outside a mosque, facing the direction of Mecca is accomplished on one's own.

As an R.N. in the US I was asked to turn a patients bed toward Mecca so he could pray. In my work we respect all religious beliefs. I'm not judgemental. It is our diversity that makes that makes this country so great. With some help from my colleagues we figured it out.

I am Christian and have not only a doctor but a good friend and his family that are Muslim. All good and highly educated friends. No I do not “like” terrorists but I do not “like” the Klan or Serial Killers”. Extremists of all sorts tend to make me very uncomfortable!

I was conceived at Mecca, a nightclub in Bradford in 1960.

Really, People. This is NOT a political site. It is just a Simple Trivia game.

How can anyone, living in the real world, not know this?

I would have liked more info on the history of why Muslims face Mecca, how it came about and why.

Take it easy everyone. This is just factual and this is JUST a friendly game please.

Often wondered about this. Since the shortest distance between two points on a sphere follows a great circle route, which direction should you take? Also, since our world is a sphere, one could, theoretically at least, face Mecca two different ways. Imams probably opt for the shortest of the two.

If all would not basturdize religion just to suit their narrow minds, how different this world would be. Just think, tolerance is what religion is supposed to teach us, not hatred. Love of all is the key.

Scott, The number of times a person prays in one day is based upon their beliefs. Meanwhile, you choose to pray on decent people with your xenophobic comments. Open your heart or shut your mouth.

I found that hotel rooms in properties I have stayed in owned by Arabs, have an arrow on the ceiling pointing to Mecca. Not something I needed but the arrow was there with Mecca written on it!

Mr.LaFaye, the non stop wars that started since the existence of humans is caused by the nature of this creature not by religion . I’ll give you a quick example
WWI and II have nothing to do with religion and if. Religion is involved it’s used very pragmatically just to ignite the war.

Joanne Serin, doesn’t matter. Doing the right, moral things are not dependent upon the actions of others. Do unto others, etc .

Joanne Serin, it doesn't matter. My convictions require me to treat others as l would have them treat me. I have to live with the way l treat others, not how thet MIGHT treat me.

goosenbuster, do you think they would do the same, to make allowances for people of other religions to follow their traditions?
Mr.LaFaye
allysweets, Well it's a start. And thanks.

krkyates, I don’t believe religion should define us. It’s way too restrictive

Mmm, finally I read a comment from you that I partially agree with Mr.LaFaye,

Virginia Lindsey, And what, praytell, does this have to do with the question? We have had more mass killings right here by our own kind than anything wrought on us by any Saudis.

krkyates, people have basturdized religions to suit their warped sense of self importance. Christianaty fought for ages just to prove their "God/Religion" was superior to other Christian faiths. Islam has done the same. If we take the love and peace religion talks about, and practice that, we would all (mostly) be practicing the same religion.
