Which city has the oldest underground railway (subway) system?
The London Underground (or the Tube) is the oldest subway system in the world. It was opened on the 10th of January, 1863, so it will celebrate its 155th anniversary in 2018! It was first open to public between Paddington and Farrington and gas-lit wooden carriages pulled by steam locomotives were used.
