Which festival was held at Max Yasgur's dairy farm during three days in 1969?
Max B. Yasgur (December 15, 1919 – February 9, 1973) was an American farmer, best known as the owner of the dairy farm in Bethel, New York at which the Woodstock Music and Art Fair was held between August 15 and August 18, 1969.
After area villages Saugerties (located about 40 miles (64 km) from Yasgur's farm) and Wallkill declined to provide a venue for the festival, Yasgur leased one of his farm's fields for a fee that festival sponsors said was $10,000.

I am form Ohio and remember Woodstock very well. It was only 4 hours from my where I lived in Olmsted Falls, but my parents would not let me go not even with a group of people. Then they try to redo Woodstock years later. You can't redo things the happen spontaneously. It was a total failure. Woodstock just happened and the musicans played thier best and the fans went crazy during the concert and a lot of people did hurendous things but heck it all was in the name of ROCK AND ROLL!!! ROCK AND ROLL from the 60's and the 70's will NEVER EVER DIE. Rock groups still play to a sold out audience. Kids that weren't evern born then are at these concerts of today. I have to laugh when I see someone in their early twenties at a Moody Blues concert. But heck we had fun.

Three days of fun , free love, drugs, and music. Wish I could have gone. Would have loved to listen to Janis Joplin , Jimi Hendricks, Joe Crocker, and the rest.

Pattie Kelly, I agree completely with all of that! And my dad and I both felt it was a total farce when they tried to redo it...

Woodstock was so well attended because the word spread that you could get in for free. I was a junior in High School in Albany. Almost went.

I don't know why Or how I received a letter asking if I would attend the 2009 Woodstock 40th anniversary that was to be held in Woodstock, Illinois. I wish I had kept the letter as a keepsake, but I didn't & I didn't sttend..

Those "free" people trashed the owner's field completely. The weather was intermittent rain, mixed with T-storms; by the Grace of God that nobody got fried by lightning that weekend. Their families must have been praying.

Pattie, I grew up just off Sterns Rd, just down where they put the light in @ Dorchester, in Bretton Ridge (I’m there right now, pet sitting for mom). I was born in between the 1st man on the moon, & the 1st Woodstock (August 12).
My god-mother was a hippie, & still lives on a commune to this day in Cali! She didn’t go, cuz I was gonna pop out! Damn, that would have been awesome to be born @ Woodstock!
WOW! I’m gonna be 50 in less than a month!!! Mom taking me to Vegas, leaving on the 12th.
Nice to know YOU!

My friend and I tried to go but my 1963 Chevy Impala Convertible (my favorite car) broke down and we did not even get out of Indiana, We were stranded in Ft Wayne and my grandfather had to come get us and arrange to have my car towed back home. We were so upset and tired, but we did get to see some of my childhood friends I grew up with in Ft Wayne before we moved to southern Indiana. So not a totally wasted trip,,,still sad
