"Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" is the 1998 satirical black comedy road film which features both Johnny Depp and Benicio Del Toro. This black comedy film was adapted from Hunter S. Thompson's novel 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas'. It was co-written and directed by Terry Gilliam. The men who produced the film were Patrick Cassavetti, Laila Nabulsi, and Stephen Nemeth. Universal Pictures first distributed this movie in May 1998. This is a film that directly details the journey of two men through Las Vegas as their initial journalistic intentions devolve into an exploration of the city under the influence of psychoactive substances.

In the film, Raoul Duke (Johnny Depp) and his attorney Dr. Gonzo (Benicio Del Toro) drive a red convertible across the Mojave desert to Las Vegas. The car is carrying a suitcase full of drugs to cover costs of a motorcycle race. As their consumption of drugs increases at an alarming rate, the stoned duo totally trash a hotel room where they stopped for a travel break. As a result of their actions, they begin to fear legal repercussions. After other events happen, Duke will begin a drive back to L.A., California. After an odd run-in with a cop (Gary Busey), Duke returns to Sin City where he continues on a wild drug binge (he doesn't want his binge to end). He will also try one last time to finish writing a news article.

The film received mixed reviews from critics and was a financial failure. It has since become a cult classic for movie fans.
