"Bad Santa", a 2003 American Christmas black comedy, is a film about a miserable con-man posing as Santa in order to rob department stores. It was directed by Terry Zwigoff and written by Glenn Ficarra and John Requa. It was produced by John Cameron, Sarah Aubrey, and Bob Weinstein. It stars Billy Bob Thornton as Willie T. Soke (Santa), with a supporting cast of Tony Cox, Lauren Graham, Brett Kelly, Lauren Tom, John Ritter and Bernie Mac.

In this dark comedy film, the crotchety Willie T. Stokes and his partner (Tony Cox) reunite for their yearly holiday con operation. Posing as a mall Santa and his elf, they rip off shopping outlets on Christmas Eve. This year Willie is however falling apart. He's depressed and alcoholic, and his erratic behavior draws the suspicion of mall security (Bernie Mac). After Willie befriends a small boy, the situation brings out Willie's kinder side. The irascible Willie begins to wonder if there is still some hope that he can become a real congenial person.

In the end, film critics said, "A gloriously rude and gleefully offensive comedy, "Bad Santa" isn't for everyone, but grinches, grouches, and even some misanthropes will find it uproariously funny". This film became a critical and commercial success. At the box office, it grossed over $76 million (worldwide) against a total budget of $23 million.
