Sir David Courtney Suchet is an English actor. He is known for his work on British stage and television. International acclaim and recognition followed his performance as Agatha Christie's detective Hercule Poirot in Agatha Christie's "Poirot" (1989–2013), for which he received a 1991 British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) nomination.

Suchet began his acting career at the Watermill Theatre, Bagnor, Berkshire. He has been starring as Lady Bracknell in "The Importance of Being Earnest" by Oscar Wilde at the Vaudeville Theatre in London since June 2015 and on tour.

Ken Putnam, no, that is not correct. His film role as Poirot was 21 years after he first sppeared in the same role on TV. He was made famous by his many appearances in that role on TV long before that film.
