Elvin Richard Bishop (10/21/1942 Glendale, California) is an American blues and rock singer, guitarist, bandleader, and songwriter. An original member of the Paul Butterfield Blues Band, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as a member of that group in 2015 and the Blues Hall of Fame in his own right in 2016.

Bishop's genres include blue-eyed soul, blues, blues rock and country rock. He is not only a vocalist but he also plays guitar and slide guitar. Bishop has recorded with many other artists including, John Lee Hooker (8/22/1912-6/21/2001), The Allman Brothers band, Bo Diddy (12/30/1928-6/2/2008) and George Thorogood (2/24/1950).

In November 2021, his album with Charlie Musselwhite, '100 Years of Blues', received a nomination for the Grammy Award for Best Traditional Blues Album.

Charlie Daniels mentioned Bishop in his 1975 hit song "The South's Gonna Do It Again", with the lyric, "Elvin Bishop sitting' on a bale of hay; he ain't good lookin' but he sure can play". The band, Molly Hatchet also references Bishop in their 1978 song "Gator Country", with the lyrics, "Elvin Bishop out strutting' his stuff".

His number, "Fooled Around and Fell in Love" was included in the soundtrack album for 'Guardians of the Galaxy' (a Marvel super hero film) titled 'Awesome Mix Vol. 1' (2014).
