Which is not a type of mushroom?
The correct answer is the giant weta. While there are many types of mushrooms, the number of insects greatly outweighs them. The giant weta is among the largest and heftiest of the insect world. Their name derives from the Maori word wetapunga, which means "God of ugly things." They look simply like a huge cricket and yet they cannot fly as they are too heavy. In fact, the wetas can outweigh a mouse, coming in around 2.5 ounces as their maximum weight! These creatures are endangered due to rats and other natural predators, and conservation groups are doing their part with captive breeding. Fossils found from the Triassic period 190 million years ago suggest strong similarities to the weta.
