The Bay of Bengal, the largest bay in the world, forms the northeastern part of the Indian Ocean. Roughly triangular, it is bordered mostly by India and Sri Lanka to the west, Bangladesh to the north, and Myanmar (Burma) and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands to the east. It occupies an area of 839,000 sq mi (2,172,000 sq km). By contrast Hudson Bay occupies a little over half that - 470,000 sq mi (1,230,000 sq km), the other ntwo bays listed are much smaller: Bay of Campeche is 6,000 sq mi (16,000 sq km), and San Francisco Bay, depending on how it is measured, is 400 to 1,600 sq mi (1,000 to 4,100 sq km).
