The Mangesh temple, also known as Shri Mangueshi Temple, a Hindu shrine is located at Mangeshi Village in Priol, Goa, India. It is at a distance of 21 km (13 miles) from Panaji the capital of Goa and 26 km(16 miles) from Margao. This temple is one of the largest and most frequently visited temples in Goa. The original site was a very simple structure, and the current structure was only built under Maratha rule, some 150 years after it had been moved. The Mangesh temple is the shrine of Lord Shiva, a Hindu Deity. This temple is set amidst greenery and hills. Mangeshi, which is a little village along Goa's Panaji-Ponda road is a point of pilgrimage for hundreds of tourists from all over India and abroad.
