Which nation won their first ever Summer Olympic gold medal at Barcelona in 1992?

At the 1992 Summer Olympics Indonesia won its first-ever gold medal, after winning a silver medal at 1988 Olympics. Susi Susanti won the gold in badminton women's singles after defeating Bang Soo-hyun in the final round. Alan Budikusuma won the badminton men's singles competition, earning a second gold medal for Indonesia. Several years later, Susanti and Budikusuma married and she received the nickname golden bride or Olympic bride.

Lucia Francisca Susy Susanti (born 11 February 1971 in Tasikmalaya, West Java) is a retired Indonesian badminton player. Relatively small of stature, she combined quick and graceful movement with elegant shotmaking technique, and regarded by many as one of the greatest women's singles player of all time. Her name is wrongly spelled as Susi Susanti. She is the first Indonesian Olympic gold medalist and the only Indonesian woman until Lilyana Natsir won gold in 2016.
