The 2018 American biographical comedy-drama film "Green Book" concerns a black pianist Don Shirley (January 1927 – April 2013) in need of a driver for an eight week concert tour. The film was directed by Peter Farrelly and produced by Farrelly, Jim Burke, Brian Hayes Currie, and Nick Vallelonga. Based on background interviews and letters written by Frank "Tony Lip" Vallelonga, the film's screenplay was written by Nick Vallelonga, Brian Hayes Currie, and Peter Farrelly.

Dr. Donald Shirley played by Mahershala Ali was a a world-class African-American pianist, who in 1962 is about to embark on a concert tour in the Deep South of the United States of America. In need of a driver and protection, Shirley recruits Tony Lip Vallelonga (Viggo Mortensen), a tough-talking bouncer from an Italian-American neighborhood in the Bronx, New York. Despite their differences, the two men develop an unexpected bond while confronting racism and danger during the concert tour.

At the end of the movie, alone in his home, Don decides to go to Tony's home, he is surprisingly but warmly greeted by Tony's extended family. In conclusion, title cards show real-life photos of the characters and state that Don continued to tour, compose, and record songs. Tony goes back to his prior job in New York.

"Green Book" received many accolades and nominations. It won the Academy Award for Best Picture in addition to winning Best Original Screenplay and Best Supporting Actor for Ali.
