'Selling England by the Pound' is the fifth studio album by the English rock band Genesis, released in October 1973. The album reached No. 3 in the United Kingdom and No. 70 in the United States. A single from the album, 'I Know What I Like (In Your Wardrobe)', was released in February 1974 and became the band's first top 30 hit in the UK.

The album covered a number of themes, including the loss of English folk culture and an increased American influence, which was reflected in the title. It has continued to sell and has reached Gold certification by the British Phonographic Industry and the Recording Industry Association of America.

Genesis are an English rock band formed at Charterhouse School, Godalming, Surrey, in 1967. The band's most commercially successful line-up consists of keyboardist Tony Banks (born 27 March 1950), bassist/guitarist Mike Rutherford (born 2 October 1950) and drummer/singer Phil Collins (born 30 January 1951). The 1970 s line-up featuring singer Peter Gabriel (born 13 February 1950) and guitarist Steve Hackett (born 12 February 1950).

With between 100 million and 150 million albums sold worldwide, Genesis are one of the world's best-selling music artists. Their discography includes 15 studio and six live albums. They have won numerous awards and have inspired a number of tribute bands recreating Genesis shows from various stages of the band's career. In 2010 Genesis were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
