Which of these actors was once Ronald McDonald?
The popular guy and actor who once played Ronald McDonald was Willard Scott. He was the man who regularly performed as Ronald McDonald from 1963–66. He was occasionally Ronald until 1971 for the McDonald's franchise in Washington, D.C. Scott wrote in a book, which he released, "The Joy of Living", that he originally created the Ronald McDonald character at the request of the fast-food restaurant chain outlet company.
Born in Alexandria, Virginia, in March 1934, Scott lived as a young boy in Virginia and attended George Washington High School in Alexandria. He showed an interest in broadcasting as a 16-year-old. He worked in 1950 as an NBC page at WRC (AM), which was NBC's owned-and-operated radio station in Washington, D.C. Scott was then able to attend American University, where he worked alongside fellow student Ed Walker at WAMU-AM, the university's radio station (1951–1953). Later in his life Scott would work as a weather presenter, author, TV personality, actor, clown, comedian, and radio personality. He is best known for his TV work on the "Today Show" and as the creator and original portrayer of Ronald McDonald.
Scott's active years as a professional personality working on TV projects was from 1950–2015. Currently, in 2019 Scott likes to write and publish fiction and non-fiction books.
