The Mysterious Affair at Styles, was Agatha Christie’s first ever detective novel. It was written in 1916, and was first published in the United Kingdom 21st January 1921.

In this book, Christie introduces detective Hercule Poirot, a Belgian refugee of the Great War, Arthur Hastings, and Inspector Japp.

Hercule Poirot is settling in England near the home of Emily Inglethorp, who helped him to his new life in England. His friend Hastings also arrives as a guest at her home. When the woman is killed, Poirot uses his detective skills to solve the mystery.
