Based in São Paulo, Sport Club Corinthians Paulista play in Serie A, the top tier of Brazilian football.

The team was founded in 1910 by local railway workers, who borrowed the name from the Corinthian Football Club in the UK, which existed from 1882-1939, and remained an amateur club throughout its existence. To this day, although now rather old fashioned, the term "Corinthian Spirit" is used in English to denote good sportsmanship.

Their Brazilian namesakes have been phenomenally successful - they have won the national title 7 times, and have also been victorious in the Copa Libertadores and in the FIFA International Club Championships. Like many teams, they have played in various venues throughout their history, and their current home is the Neo Química Arena. Their home kit consists of a black and white striped shirt and black shorts.
