Which place has the highest recorded average annual temperature in the world?

The highest recorded average annual temperature in the world and possibly a world record, is 94°F, in Dallol, Ethiopia. This makes Ethiopia the hottest country on Earth.

Lugh, Somalia, East Africa has an annual mean recorded temperature of 88°F, putting it in second place.

In the United States the city normally having the highest annual average is Key West, Florida at 77.8°F. Key West also has the highest winter average at 70.2°F. The highest summer average goes to Death Valley, California at 98.2°F.

A reading of 136°F was observed at Azizia (at an elevation of about 380 ft) in what was known as Tripolitania, Libya, North Africa at that time, was recorded on September 13, 1922. This is generally accepted as the world's highest temperature recorded under standard conditions.

Kathryn Cavanagh, I've spent time in both Dallol and the hotter areas of Australia. Dallol wins this one hands-down. That average is year-round, day and night. Although I was surprised Dallol was the accepted answer because when I was there Dallol had no internationally recognized weather station reporting the readings. The guys with whom I stayed had built their own weather station to standard specs. I saw it hit 137F (and that was only March).

Come to Darwin, Australia, on this scale quite cool, but with a humidity level of 85%+ it feels like +50 every day from December through to March....... come to the top end and enjoy sweating like being in a sauna without paying for the privilege

Kathryn Cavanagh, you confuse maximum and average. I have been to the places that you mention, and, it is certainly hot during the day. But, quite cool by the early hours of the morning. Hence, the average is nowhere near 100, or even 90. This the case in many hot areas.
