Which singer is best known for writing "Mr. Bojangles"?
Jerry Jeff Walker (born Ronald Clyde Crosby; March 16, 1942, Oneonta, New York, United States) is an American country music singer and songwriter.
Walker's "Mr. Bojangles" is perhaps his most well-known and most-often covered song. It was about an obscure alcoholic but talented tap-dancing drifter who, when arrested and jailed in New Orleans, insisted on being identified only as Bojangles (the nickname of famed dancer Bill Robinson).

Saw Jerry Jeff a couple times at the Main Point in Bryn Mawr PA. His voice was so smooth and he had the unique ability to tell a story to music.

I went to school at U.T Austin, and I saw Jerry Jeff and the Lost Gonzo Band on several occasions. Always a good show, whatever the venue. R.I.P., Jerry Jeff. Thanks for all the good memories!!

He passed away a few weeks ago. Mr. Bojangles was said to be Richard Nixon's favorite song.

Boyd Tracy, Nope, he was just starting out on the road to make it in the buisiness, hitchhiking on the east coast and found a licence belonging to "Jerry Jeff Walker" and since at the time he hadn't had an ID on him, he used that and the rest is HISTORY.

When he performed in Tulsa Oklahoma I was fortunate enough to see and hear Mr Sammy Davis Jr perform Mr Bojangles — one of the most amazing live concerts I have ever attended.

An excellent classic song, The Nitty Gritty Dirty band did this song perfect, Sammie Davis was in their shadow in his rendition. I am not familiar with Jerry Jeff Walker, I will do a Google and You tube on him.
